This morning we drove along the Desert Hightway to Madaba, a biblical city (Numbers 21:30 and Joshua 13:9). We went to the Greek Orthodox Basilica of Saint George to see the 3rd- to 7th- century mosaics, including an amazingly accurate fragment depicting an ancient map of the Holy Land dating from the 6th century.
