This morning we returned to the West Bank of Luxor to the Valley of the Kings. In the 18th dynasty, the kings abandoned the Memphis area and the pyramid style tombs, and instead cut tombs deep into the mountainside here. Over 60 tombs have been uncovered and excavation is ongoing.
Topographical model of the tombs.
King Tut's tomb is here, but there's not a lot to see.
After seeing King Tut's tomb as well as two others, we split up. Mike went to see the tomb of Tuthmosis III which was a bit difficult to get to, while Marianne went to a different tomb with easier access.
