Everybody seems as interested in the trip as they are in the pictures, so we thought we'd do this one as a travelog. So you can read about the trip, or skip the words and just browse through the pictures. This was a 12-day cruise-tour, or actually a tour-cruise since we did the land tour first. The land portion took us from Fairbanks to Whittier, then we boarded a cruise ship that went from Whittier to Vancouver.

We flew from BWI to Minneapolis, had a one and a half hour layover, and then flew to Anchorage. There was a two and a half hour layover in Anchorage and then we flew to Fairbanks. The second layover was particularly annoying since there were are least two earlier flights. But those flights were booked, and even our flight was overbooked. We were even more annoyed when we later learned that some people had direct flights from Minneapolis to Fairbanks. You heard it here first folks, Fairbanks is the next hot spot. At least we had a reasonably direct route. Some of the people we met had some bizarre flights, including one couple that flew from Anchorage to Fairbanks by way of Seattle!
When we got to Fairbanks, the Princess folks rounded us up, collected our luggage, and took us to our lodge. By the time they delivered our bags, it was 11:00 PM. That doesn't sound too bad, but that equates to 3:00 AM Eastern time, so we were pretty well exhausted.
